Černá, Johanka ; Kotherová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
This thesis focuses on the approach of obstetric and postnatal care providers towards women in the Czech Republic. To identify what experiences the mothers deemed essential and to explore the impact of physicians' approach towards them, qualitative research based on semi-structured interviews was conducted. Those interviews were later analyzed using mainly the sociological framework originating from Talcott Parson's role-based theory of the doctor-patient relationship, namely the paternalistic and partnership models of the doctor-patient relationship and the concept of person-oriented care. The main findings of the research are that interviewed women who experienced rather paternalistic model tend to imply overall dissatisfaction with the obstetric and postnatal care, meanwhile those women who experienced rather partnership model described their experiences as rather pleasant and stated they would choose the same hospital for labor again. The research identified six key topics, that interviewed women referred to as crucial for them in care providers' approach. These topics are routine, privacy, information, physical integrity, method of communication, and degree of empathy. Aside from the main findings, the research has also discovered that the paternalistic and partnership approaches can create...

MRÁZKOVÁ, Vendula
COVID-19 disease is caused by a new type of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. On 1. 12. 2021 the Czech Republic was in the 5th degree of emergency or in a critical state of the anti-epidemic system. The critical situation means that the capacity of the hospital inpatient and intensive care system is beginning to approach its limit, the number of people infected in the population is high and there is a community spread of the disease. On 8th of December 2021, statistics shown 19 482 new cases of COVID-19, a total of 2 282 212 confirmed cases, 6 670 hospitalized residents, 1 963 455 cured, 14 031 605 reported vaccines and 34 034 deaths in Czech republic. As of 20 January 2023, the WHO has published a total of 663 640 386 confirmed cases with COVID-19 and 6 713 093 deaths in the world between 31. 12. 2019 and 16. 1. 2023. The current coronavirus disease has a global impact, but healthcare professionals play a vital role and are one of the most exposed groups. Stress in mental health of nursing has long been recognized as an impact on individual performance, illness and job retention. Since the beginning of the pandemic, health professionals have struggled to work harder, are at risk of transmitting the infection to themselves and their loved ones, so they are often separated from them. They experience discomfort due to the use of more protective equipment. Further more, they are exposed to stressful situations, when a large number of young and older people die due to insufficient capacity of beds and ventilators, they decide on human lives, and who will be given priority care. Therefore, it is natural for employees, that they are getting to be depressed, scared, anxious, irritable, sleep deprived or use alcohol.

Vengrínová, Jaroslava ; Hošťálková, Monika (advisor) ; Lišková, Iveta (referee)
The diploma thesis consists of two parts: Theoretical and Empirical. The Theoretical Part explains the basic meaning of the expression Intensive Care, the types of Intensive Care, its history and provides a description of an intensive care workplace and the health personnel working in Intensive Care (their education and competence). The thesis also deals with patients in Intensive Care and their needs. The objective of the Empirical Part was to ascertain the Czech general public knowledge and attitudes towards Intensive Care, their experience with Intensive Care as a patient or a person close to the patient. The methodology of the Empirical Part consists in a survey using questionnaires among Czech general public. The questionnaire was answered by 259 respondents. On the basis of statistical evaluation of respondents' data made by a statistics computer program, we found out the Czech general public is able to define the notion of Intensive Care and those who had their own experience with an intensive care workplace described the setting of the place as positive, which was a surprising finding. However, we also found out the respondents of our survey still lack information, and they would, therefore, appreciate to receive an information leaflet whenever entering into contact with an intensive care...
The further training of the staff in facilities for the elderly
LOUKOTOVÁ, Eva
In my thesis I deal with the further education of employees in the retirement institutions. I determine whether and how are employees in retirement institutions being educated in Prague, what does education mean and how it is important to them. I examine the motivation for further education and the use of possible bids. The theoretical part deals with staffing in retirement institutions and the current state of lifelong education and its division. The main theme was further education and its place in accredited educational institutions. The practical part is based on the evaluation questionnaire. Questionnaires were compiled on the specified hypotheses. Questionnaires were distributed in 5 retirement homes in Prague. Survey was attended by 84 employees and five employers. The aim of this work was to find further education in the retirement institutions over a period of two years and compare it with the options (bids) of educational institutions. To find it out was chosen quantitative research. In conclusion I put out the greatest challenges of further education, which are bad legislative basis and a huge financial drain, which means poor support from the state.
